Find out how FAMAC manages to have customized lean production even though it does not work exclusively with standardized products.

Today on the blog we will bring a slightly different topic! We will discuss industrial production and show how FAMAC applies the concept of lean production even though it does not work exclusively with standardized products. Follow along here!
Lean Production
First of all, do you know what lean manufacturing is? From English lean manufacturing, is a philosophy originated in Japan with the Toyota Production System. It seeks to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes through the continuous elimination of everything that does not add value to the final product.
It is understood that by identifying and removing inefficiencies in workflows and production processes, companies that adopt such a philosophy will be able to respond more quickly to market demands with high-quality products at reduced costs.
The essence of lean manufacturing lies in its approach. It considers all aspects of the operation, from supply chain management to customer satisfaction, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and involvement of everyone in the pursuit of efficiency. As a result, organizations become more agile, flexible and able to deliver greater value to their customers.
Customization
Customize, according to the Michaelis dictionary means “to reform or transform something in order to meet the interests or needs of the buyer or user”. The term, initially used more in fashion, decoration and architecture, indicates something unique, non-standardized, which often gives these products a different cost.
As consumers increasingly seek items that meet their specific needs and preferences, companies are challenged to adapt their production processes to offer this flexibility, without compromising efficiency or significantly increasing costs.
Production line customization involves implementing systems and techniques that allow for the rapid and efficient modification of products or parts of products within the manufacturing process. This can range from simple changes, such as color and size variations, to more complex changes involving the functionality and design of the product.
Customized Lean Production at FAMAC
At FAMAC, we work with the purpose of serving the customer as quickly as possible. Whether directly from stock or by assembling the product according to the desired specifications. Our goal is to maintain lean, yet customized production. And we have in our portfolio more than 700 items in their different configurations to meet countless applications in the most diverse segments!
But “How can we produce quickly and deliver within 48 hours, while maintaining lean production and quality, amidst this diversity of products”?
The answer is somewhat simple. But first, an explanation is in order.
Some companies in the segment produce according to mass customization. They manufacture versions of the same product and try to sell them to OEMs (equipment manufacturers that use the pump as an input for their product). Others try to produce large batches and supply DCs (Distribution Centers) to reduce their production costs.
Unlike both strategies, at FAMAC we practice what we call lean manufacturing customized. In other words, we maintain stocks of component items in statistical quantities. We organize the planning, scheduling and control of production by assembly cells, according to commercial needs.
Flexible team
The production team needs to be flexible. The team must be able to change cells to produce what is needed, in the right quantity, to complement the statistical stock of finished products. It is also necessary to keep a different range of items in the assembly cells, often in very small batches, to ensure that customized orders are met.
This approach requires investment in technologies, systems and from software planning processes that support such customization. In addition, collaboration with suppliers and supply chain integration are essential to ensure that the necessary materials are available to meet customized demands without delays.
It is the set of organization, inventory control, strategic purchasing, lean methodology for supplying cells, flexible team and semi-automatic cells, which gives the character of agility and quality to the customized lean manufacturing from FAMAC.
FAMAC Solutions
At FAMAC we deliver not only products, but solutions! We think about investments and partnerships in research and development, in the search for more efficient, sustainable and customized products. We also provide a software Pump Selector for those who need to find the right equipment for any type of pumping. Not to mention the possibility of direct contact with the factory to clarify doubts and for product support in the field. This is another great advantage of FAMAC.
Now that you know a little more about our lean manufacturing customized, if you need it, you know you can always count on FAMAC.
A hug and see you next!
