Those who use the BIM resource can now download the FAMAC motor pump files and use them in future projects. Further proof of FAMAC’s commitment to innovation.

(Eduardo Secco – Engineering and Technical Sales)

Hello, engaged FAMAC Motobombas readers! In the constantly evolving world of civil construction, it is impossible to ignore the transformations brought about by Building Information Modeling, or simply BIM. Today, we'll explore the advantages this innovative approach offers architects and designers, as well as share how FAMAC is investing in making BIM resources available to all interested parties.

What is BIM?

First of all, we need to explain to those who don't know what this BIM thing is. This acronym BIM comes from the English Building Information Modeling, (or Building Information Modeling in free translation). It is a methodology that revolutionizes the way construction projects are designed, executed and managed. Using intelligent digital models, BIM integrates detailed information about every aspect of the project, from design to maintenance.

Considered by experts in the field as the basis of digital transformation in the architecture, engineering and civil construction sectors, it makes it possible to keep records of each aspect and technical information of each item indicated in the project, all digitally.

It uses 3D mapping to study the feasibility of the work and simulate scenarios, seeking to detect early possible failures, delays and expenses that may occur during the work, thus avoiding unforeseen events.

In other words, it is a relatively new technology, with the first experiments beginning in the 1970s and being used for the first time in 1986. In this sense, it has already been adopted in several countries, some even on a mandatory basis in construction industry projects. civil.

Advantages for Architects and Designers

Above all, I believe we will agree that project errors are headaches that no professional wants to have to deal with, after all they:

  • cause delays that increase costs, primarily labor and equipment rental;
  • they can affect the purchase of inputs, either more or less, compromising the schedule or budget;
  • they may turn into future pathologies to be resolved within the work’s warranty period; or
  • they make the execution of the work incompatible and sometimes unfeasible, requiring a lot of resilience and creativity to deal with the issue.

The good news is that with the right tool this can stop happening! See the advantages that BIM can bring to those who use this resource:

  • Enhanced Collaboration: BIM facilitates collaboration between the different professionals involved in a project. Architects, engineers and builders can equally share data in real time, minimizing errors and redundancies.
  • Three-Dimensional Visualization: The ability to create detailed 3D models gives architects a more accurate view of the project, while allowing adjustments and optimizations before construction even begins.
  • Advanced Analysis and Simulations: Designers can perform advanced analyses, such as energy performance simulations, cost assessments and structural analyses, thus also providing more informed decision-making.
  • Reducing Errors and Changes: By integrating information into a centralized model, BIM helps identify potential problems before construction, mainly minimizing rework and costs associated with errors.

Mapping the Brazilian Construction Scenario

According to the latest mapping of the engineering and incorporation sectors of construction companies and developers in the country (SceneBrazilian Constructive river, 2023), the biggest reasons for using BIM, according to the 281 companies participating in the survey, are:

  • Improving compatibility (process of checks and definitions between projects that ensures that different construction elements do not interfere with each other); It is
  • Improving project detail and assertiveness in the quantity of materials.

However, there are some obstacles. As critical points, in addition to the relatively high value of licenses for use, the scenario highlights the lack of training and technical experience of designers in BIM. The latter, however, have been gradually improving over the years.

In general, it can be said that the advantages that BIM offers to architects and designers are greater. Project compatibility and quantitative extraction from models appear as the most used applications of BIM, and it is also widely used to coordinate ongoing projects. Therefore, it is easy to conclude that this ends up providing better ways of working and better results.

FAMAC’s Commitment to Innovation

At FAMAC Motobombas, we are committed to providing construction professionals with the tools they need to drive their projects forward. We invested significant efforts to make BIM files available, initially in the IFC extension, referring to the 3D drawings of a large part of our product line.

When using our BIM files, you will have access to detailed digital representations of our equipment directly in your modeling software. This initiative aims to facilitate the integration of FAMAC products into your projects, providing a more efficient and accurate experience.

Accessing them on our website is quite simple and you have two ways to do it:

  • On the flap Products Select the model or product family you want. There you will have access to all product information and all technical documents, including access to the BIM library link.

Alternatively, in the tab Download, you can download all the BIM files we make available, by product family.

Future Updates

We are committed to continually evolving. Future updates are scheduled to provide even more information about FAMAC equipment. We want professionals to have all the information necessary for the success of their projects.

With this purpose in mind, FAMAC understood the importance of integrating information to make life easier for our customers and has been investing efforts to make this resource available so that professionals have at hand more and more information about the FAMAC equipment used in the works they design, build and administer.

If you're ready to explore the future of construction, cconnect with us and discover how FAMAC can be your partner in the search for excellence in each project. A hug and see you next!
