industrial pumps and pumps

In this post we will describe a little more about the use of pumps and motor pumps in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries.

(Eduardo Secco – FAMAC Training)

First of all, when you think of a motor pump, what is the first application that comes to your mind? Would it be the use in a house, to pump water from a cistern, artesian well or sewage collection? Or in agriculture, for irrigation of pastures and crops? Certainly, the use of pumps and motor pumps in civil construction, agriculture and sanitation is quite common and usually what most people remember when talking about this equipment. Namely, there are also several applications and uses of pumps and motor pumps in industries.

In this sense, we separate some information about the use of pumps and motor pumps in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. Follow here with us!

Pumps in the food industry

Food processing is the set of operations necessary to extract the maximum nutritional potential from a product with reduced contamination of any kind. In this process, the quality and reliability of the equipment that transports food from the factory to the final consumer are essential.

At the same time, the need for easy and frequent cleaning to realize how important water pumps are for this purpose.

Certainly, pumping is an economically interesting and practical way of moving raw materials and finished products used in the food industry. This process can be used both for production and for packaging and cleaning materials.

In any of these cases, motor pumps specially developed for this purpose are used, with particular constructive characteristics such as the motor made of stainless steel with antimicrobial and antibacterial paint.

Thus, among the countless applications in the food industry, the pumping of drinking water and other beverages and the pumping of components for the production of various products such as sauces, dairy products and confectionery products, for example, stand out.

Pumps in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries

Firstly, it should be noted that in applications in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, motor pumps generally pump special liquids that can react in different ways with the material that constitutes the equipment.

Depending, for example, on whether the pumped liquid is more or less acidic, the elements that make up the pump may change. In this sense, it is necessary to know in detail the product to be pumped in terms of composition, concentration, pH, temperature, viscosity and density, in order to better define the most suitable material for the production of the motor pump.

Thus, the most common application for pumps in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries is also for pumping products. However, other specific applications also include metering, mixing and heating or cooling different types of solutions.

Pumps in the manufacturing industry

Another market segment that makes use of pumps and motor pumps is the manufacturing industry. In this case, the original equipment manufacturers or OEM industries (from the original, in English Original Equipment Manufacturer) produce the motor pumps, which are later sold to manufacturing industries that use them as components for the manufacture of their own products.

Certainly, for this type of industry, pumps are used as an input for manufactured products, which are later sold to retailers or end users.

Namely, many times, for large manufacturing industries, the pumps are manufactured by the OEM following specific configurations, sometimes even not having the manufacturer's brand on the product.

As examples, we mention companies such as manufacturing industries that use pumps and motor pumps as components, those whose final products are:

  • paint booths;
  • cooling towers;
  • industrial washing machines;
  • heat exchangers; It is
  • filtration systems and reverse osmosis.

Due to the wide scope, the types of pumps used are the most diverse and with varied characteristics. There are cases, as mentioned earlier, that special pumps are manufactured to meet the specific needs of manufacturing companies.

And there? Have you thought about all this?

This is certainly just a summary of the many possibilities for using motor pumps in industries!

The coolest thing is that the more we research and develop products, the more possibilities we find for use, both for the motor pumps manufactured by FAMAC and for the represented brands – DAB, Espa, Homa, HCP and Hidrostal.

Finally, now that you know more about the use of pumps and motor pumps in industries, be aware of the necessary specifications, the range of pressure and flow range and, most important of all, the reliability of the product. This, of course, won't be a problem if you always opt for FAMAC!
